Meta search software is hot, desktop search from your hard drive files will be the next battle in the OS war.

Google has their PUFFIN project which will take files from your hard drive and target relevant ads back.

But there are other programs all should be aware of and try that are spyware free tools.

I'm more of a lazy type of person and prefer to press F3 instead of installing just another program
good read though, didn't know such "search engines" existed

 

They are not search engines www.diskmeta.com is a hard drive search software product that gives results from your hard drive files in a search result page format.

The other is a meta search software product that searches many SE databases at once from your keywords.

State of the art stuff.

Unfortunately it requires MySQL, and I haven't got the time or resources to create my own DBS .
