if i go to yahoo and type in "International Health Insurance" Sometimes my client's site http://www.globalsurance.com is at 4, and sometimes 24. Whats interesting is that when its at 4 there doesnt seem to be any advertising.. Anybody know whats going on?

    Hello Klown,
This usually happens because of datacenters..
the results whch shows #4 on 1 computer ( on that computer yahoo might b giving results from other datacenter) and on other computer from different data center

if you check your results in USA and UK .. there as well the SERPs are different as they both give results from different datacenters and different geo..
I hope i cleared your doubts:)
If i am mistaken please correct me
    Thanx

thats what my guess was. However not only are the results different.. the whole page is different, on the right side there are no ads when globalsurance is #4, it is 24 when there are ads. Strange that it gets 2 completely different pages i think. And this site does do heavy marketing using paid ads on yahoo

in my case also, sometimes when searching for certain term, it is nowhere to be found in the first 100 (i display 100 result per page).

just refresh the search result page, and it will show in the first or second place.

Along with geo-targeting, try clearing the cookies on both machines and see what happens.

I'm guessing that they test different alog's on the different datacenters so there may be days where they kind of display the same rankings, but more often than not, the rankings will probably always vary a bit because there are so many datacenters that they're trying out new things on to keep their results relevant and fresh.

oh, and I think the average sitewide update to datacenters takes between 2-5 days.
