This search restrictions on five terms is retarded IMO.... I was trying to search for "5 dollar banners", that five dollar banner guy , and was hit with this new restriction. What gives? Just curious. What good does restricting searches to three WORDS do? If anything, VB should be modifyed to allow numbers to count as words.... This in my estimation is a bug.. Any help here? Am I off base?
Well, I tried "five dollar banners", but I think that guy used "5 dollar banners".. The thing is, I think that numbers should be exempt from the character limit. On that notes, how can I find that five (5) dollar banner guy.. Thank you for the input and help. It is appreciated more than you know...
Sorry for the double post, but ironically a new search for "five dollar banner", lead me to this thread.. Argh...
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=221964 Wow! It was the second thread when I did a search for just "dollar banners"
Try the search in Google if you're in a rush for it at this moment. Digital Point turns up for all sorts of things on Google. or you can do that one search with the google and then DP's url. I forget how that is formatted..
Have you tried tweaking the search out in any other ways? (you can learn other ways here: A Guide to Searching Digital Point ) You may also Search Digital Point ~ compliments of GuyFromChicago EDIT: Actually, if you are searching to a signature, then those are not indexed in the forums search feature you will need to use google (see the link above).
I've found it.... Something changed in the search function recently.. IMO, it's not for the better, though I would imagine there was some reason behind it, ie., limiting useless searches and thus unnecessary load on the server.. Whatever the reason, from an end user point of view it sucks.. No worries though, I found what I needed eventually.. Thanx for the input and help!
Google lets me search for numbers and search terms and or words and phrases that are less than 3 characters... I'd have to say that Google has a leg up here...
hhhhhhh.... but still Google crawls Dp every 2 or 3 days while DP search gives result even for a post 1 minute old. Isn't that faster/
Both have advantages which counter the other one... Though personally I like the vB search best, at least to start with. Though, if you know its limits you'll know when to use google. Google can not limit it (exactly) to one forum or one group of forums. Google can not limit it precisely to one person/poster, Google can not filter based on post/thread age or number of replies. So in many ways DP has a leg up... but as most things have two legs, I'd guess that DP is kicked back with both it's legs up ^_^ If at first you don't succeed, try the other one!
