send me the URL and I can give you a reason of dropping. Google made an update I think related to "on page" factors.

You were hit by the latest penguin algo update that was rolled out on the 9th. That means that you'll need to start removing backlinks!

Good luck mate, you are gonna wanna start soon.

This happened to my website in late December, it really sucked. I think it has to do with bad backlinks...

Yes you can, and usually the new domain will not inherit the penalty, although on rare occasions it will. I got rid of a badly penalized domain doing exactly that using a 301 redirect. Good luck

Why would you do that and not just fix the problem? Redirecting the site will pass along the links you have and then the penalty.
Just remove links and fix the problem!

Just as I suggested before you will want to remove your links! You need to track down and find all of the bad links that your website has and remove them. If you just redirect your domain name you will cause a problem on your new domain.
To remove your links you need to contact the websites with your bad links and ask them to remove the links for you.

the drop in traffic seems to be because of latest penguin updates. Try to remove bad or broken back links. Change your link building strategy and follow the guidelines
