    Please share your thoughts regarding search engine position tracking tools: Are they useful? Which tools are the best? Also could Google penalize for using them?

    The best serp tracker I know if is at the site you're at right now, although I'm not allowed to post links yet.

    And no, I am not aware of any penalties from using this tool. Although you use the google API, meaning they can track how much you're checking it, I don't believe they are right now. I have plenty of #1 spots and have for quite some time, and I've been using this tool for months.

    I used rankchecker. I found it good and the result seems accurate. And google won't penalize site that uses tracking tool.
