Search Partners, Opt in or Opt out?

    Hi

I have been studing the stats on our newly revamped campaigns and have noticed that we are getting lots of impressions, but a very low CTR from the 'search partners' network. At present both the 'google search' and 'search partners' are switched on the 'Display network' is switched off (we will set up a separate campaign for this).

What are your thoughts about the 'Search partners' ? I am right to assume that if we did wish to opt in to this we would be better off doing so in a separate campaign to our 'google search' ads?

Not necessarily, is your product or service location specific?

    Hi

The campaigns in question are UK only. We plan to set up some other specific campaigns dedicated to other countried in the EU.

I am a Google AdWords Professional.

You should evaluate the performance of the traffic you are getting from Search Parters and see if it's profitable for your business or product. You are not able to create a separate campaign for Search Partner Traffic unfortunately. You also don't want high impressions and low CRT to negatively impact your campaign performance.

Search partner stats vary tremendously depending on niche and other factors. You could have some where like you, there's a lot more impressions compared to Google, others about the same or much lower. You could have a lower position or higher. Lower CTR or higher. Lower costs or higher. Lower conversion rate or higher.

Up to you to decide if it's worth it for you. You can't opt in without opting in to Google so you can't have a separate campaign, although that would be best. You can try to have separate campaigns but you it may not work. I've done this just once. You have to duplicate the keywords and bid less on the campaign you want to target to the partners. The problem is, you're doing this to optimize your ads for the partners but it affects Google search as well so you may end up having great partner stats and not so good on Google.

The Google stats are the ones that count towards Quality Score, something else to keep in mind.

Search partners always cost much more than google search. But if you turn it off, then you'll see impressions down a lot soon....

In my experience, it makes very little difference as the volume is SO LOW in comparison to Google anyway.

If you really want to see the difference, run 2 identical campaigns. One with Google Only, one with Search Partners Only.
