Search Engines Want Text. What If I Can't Deliever It?

What if i own a site and it is primarily a non-text site. Like a site that just contains a collection of links, video and images.

Can you acheive good keyword targeting results by making use of alt, and anchor text?

What else can be done? (specifically on a site that is a collection of links, mine in particular is a movie streaming site).

    Thanks.

You can add related content in the form of articles, maybe a blog, reviews...

Yes you should try adding some keywords in alt text and anchor text. Some keywords on the page is better than none. For a movie streaming site, perhaps you could also allow user comments to add some unique text. Just make sure you make comment links nofollow and block any spam.

If you lack text, you could instead focus more on getting backlinks to your website. Enough quality backlinks can offset lack of content.

Each movie on your site could also have a short description that could also be displayed on your category pages.

If you have no text, the SEs will not be able to put you in the correct SERP. If words are used in the images, consider moving them to HTML text. Just don't go hidden text.

Remember its ~300 characters that are need. That is 3 sentences (proper SEOed) + the H1 and <title>.

The balance needed with be with the links.

Your videos and images with alt tags will do okay. Not great but ok. I would also focus on link generation. Do press releases and article marketing to get one way links. You can still use title tags, H1, Meta Tags and such to help the SE's understand the content of your pages.

You may also try and XML feed and syndication with Feedburner.

I'd read my eBook...see link. Good luck

In that case you should mostly concentrate on link building. you can use some keyword at bottom toolbar with no spamming and use alt tag on image, make proper title tag. Add meta description and more important keyword meta tag.
