I have just read an article at following location on opting seo as a career seochat[dot]com/c/a/Search-Engine-Optimization-Help/SEO-A-Career-with-a-Future/ Author, while discussing the future prospects and talking about evolution have twice claimed that maybe something like search engine won't be used after some years "If you think that search will always drive the traffic on the web you might be wrong" "Looking further out – say 20 years – we may not even be using anything we’d recognize as a search engine anymore" what's your opinion about above statements? And if we will not be using search engine then what'll we use :S ?
I don't think search engines will be gone anytime soon. Think about a web without Google right now? The information will be there, but we won't be able to find it. Even if search engines dissapear (magicly) in the future, the social bookmarking sites will be most popular, because everyone shares and the community rates, with no intervention from the outside. But even socual bookmarking sites need search function right?
Hello dear Good thinking.... After 20 years it may also happen that instead of search engine, artificial intelligence based robots helps people to search.
They say (and they've got logic) ... that lots and lots of people are now bookmarking the websites like wikipedia ... so why search, when you already have site with answers. Search engines will not disappear totally, of course, but as we say more then 70% of traffic is sent by search engines. These stats will drop .... and google trend shows it's already dropping ...
Dear I am not understand with you because technology of tomorrow is going in the way of innovation and new innovation can increase value of SERP's..... ok Now you can see at: http://www.rankranker.com/Register.aspxtech in which i have post article about your wrong thinking.
I don't thinks so right now, some thing like this could happen. But in future it will surely,,, The same way won't be accepted for 2 many years. The fact is it won't affect SEO, it will make SEO's Advanced. Because whatever changes will made those will come out from only and only SEO industry. nice thought. Regards, Bloomtools.
Maybe it will change seo in a way that you wont be able to optimize your website in standard ways which exist now .. then seo professionals will be fighting on many fronts, rather then just one i.e google field
I don't know what will happen to search or search engines, but Google, I believe will become history (of staying at the Top) 20 years from now... Why? because there are a lot of people developing a Google Killer in smaller garages, and I'm planning for one as well, but am yet to generate the idea of that key component that will be my path to search engine success... I don't know if I will ever even do it, but the Search must go on...
And how would you find the answer you need? - with search function of course, so Wikipedia is a kind of search engine, but only in it's own database.
I don't know about others, but I will use search engines(google) even after 20 or so years, no matter what technology arise
Wish you good luck. What who knows future? I want to live in present and would like to use best of technology and other things of that time.
Google and other search engines will evolve, internet will evolve, and technology will evolve. But you'll require more time before Google dies. 10-20 years ago, moviemakers "imagined" a world in 21st century which is still far from our civilization at the moment. Technology grows rapidly but not as fast as most people think. Don't forget about the nature things like global warming which can change many things in a whole. Who cares about Global Warming 20 years ago? I don't think Google will die in 2020. Why do you think social sites can replace Google's place? Social media sites are full of people who have plenty of free times. They care about technology, they care about sex, they care about entertainment, but usually they "skip" more serious things. I mean, if you ask about cancer, who will tell you in social media sites? Obviously, search engine will be still needed, but they will evolve.
