    I think they can't beat Google unless Google does something extremely stupid like regular service downtimes, many lost accounts to hackers, some design and functional changes that destroys user experience and so on.

    If google doesn't do any of my above mentioned things then there is no change Yahoo can take over Google dominate position

    Yahoo! Answers is the only thing Google doesn't beat Yahoo in.

    but other than that Google has better mail, search engine, Google Documents, Google Books, etc.

    And Yahoo is quiet slow and google is Ten times more fast than it.

    Anything is possible altavista used to be the king kong of search. There is nothing that forces anybody to use google if people abandoned it like myspace was abandoned then thats it.
