Fellow DPers, My site (RT-Now.com) saw a SHARP drop in traffic on October 13th. Since then my daily traffic has been down 55% daily from the previous months. I have been troubleshooting across the board to figure out what caused this. Although my traffic dropped, it is still steady. Before it was ~10,000 a day now it is no more than ~5000. Not much variation on a day-to-day basis. I did trade links with a several people... could my site have been marked for buying links? Is it worth it to submit a "reconsideration" to google? I removed the plugin SEO Search Terms tagging 2 which printed the 10 most used search terms to that post. I did so to not put my site at risk of loosing rank. Is it really possible that this killed my traffic? I've called my host and nothing is wrong on that end. So tell me SEO & Google masters... What do I do to get my numbers back up!
Hi, just did a quick run through of your site. Your site is well structured with lot of contents and links, even you have good off page optimization like more than 8000 backlinks etc. But you missed the most important and the basic of SEO i.e. Keyword Research. The only keyword you are ranked well is RT-Now (your website name) i.e. because all the backlinks have the anchor text as RT-Now, even if anyone type rtnow without (-) symbol you are not ranked or your page is not in top 20 in search engines i.e. very bad optimization. Your title tag, page name, meta description, image name, alt text, content everything should be optimized for the keywords. Also tell your article writers to link your website with different keywords from the articles they write. Don't link same anchor text keyword over and over again, which Google or other search engines think as a spam anchor text link and reduce your page rank. To put in simple terms, you didn't do any on-page optimization. I kindly request you to see an experienced SEO Consultant and do the necessary before it's too late.
Hi, i just gave you an insight on how to improve your traffic via SEO for the foreseeable future in my above comments. The major reason for a sharp decline in your traffic is because of the Google Panda update, which filters low quality duplicate contents, bad links etc.
Great loss. Especially when you have thousands visitors gone. I am not a big pro but it looks that your site has been punished somehow. Probably the key moment is the link exchanging. Something might went wrong, you know. Check it ouy and be sure you didnt change links with some Black resource.
Guys, After review Google Analytics, I've found that the sharp decrease in traffic was due to DMCA copyright removals from google. I post a lot of blogs about music. and last month about 10-15 high traffic posts were removed from search. Some posts were getting over 20k hits alone in the last month, now near 0. What I have been doing is reshaping my content to rely less on media. This way my site is less at risk. It's going to take some time to get back where I was at... I'm going to need to work hard on my content!
