    If u create a new site, and u want to listed in search engines than u need to require go for search engine submission. each search engines have its own submission form in which u need to submit your site details so its crawlers crawl your site and index your pages.

    I think it's worth mentioning that it is not necessary to submit to search engines, provided you have a few links to it from other sites (initially). For the most part they pick up sites quite quickly.

    There are a lot of search engines out there which can be in hundreds if not in thousands.I can suggest you altavista .You can read through forums here and you can find many
