Hi. I have not taken the time to submitt my site to the smaller search engines. I only did it with the main few, google, yahoo and msn. I have a very niche site with very niche keywords. After a few months I am already listed number one on Yahoo for my main keyword, (Ghillie Suit) and several common misspellings. Google has not treated me as well. The question is, should I take the time and submitt to more search engines? And if I should do I do it manually or buy a mass submission? Thanks for any recommendations.
Personally I do not submit to the big three and work to get pertinent back links and let them find me. One way I do this is to manually submit to the smaller search engines. A few free directories and hopefully a link or two from a similar site. I would keep submitting to the smaller ones and no matter what, do it manually.
You don't need to submit to any "search engine". The important one's will find you by following links on the web. Submitting *might* get you indexed sooner but you won't likely remain indexed unless you have backlinks.
Thanks. I kind of thought that was the way it works because Ive shown up on lots of search engines without submitting.
the best search engines will find your site without submission if you have back-link from another site which is already in their lists
Search engine submissions takes ages (a few weeks for sure) and if you do not have this time then get some backlinks from some PR5 and above websites, then the engines will surely find you by themselves in a much shortest time period. I can tell you that as a new website, with a link from a PR7 website related to the same business area I got indexed in less then 48 hours Best wishes
