Would you list the search engine results page for a particular topic in that same topic category in your directory? For example: Someone submitted their search engine site as a "List of 100s of jewelry sites" and the URL was to the page where the search results for the word jewelry appear. I admit I've submitted some of my directory's interior categories to directories that allowed deep links, but do you see this as the same or not?
I'm one that wouldn't list it. I think you'd be better off listing some of the actual sites from the search results in your respective category (if they have merit).
I am browsing Yahoo Directory now and getting surprise after surprise that if the resource is of high quality they are listing it. But yes-- there is huge difference between a resource page and a SEO optimization method that I would call blackhat. So I would refuse that page.
I should have saved the URL. I must say the site was well done where the search results pages had links to directories that have that category and the results pages looked somewhat like a directory. Generally speaking the site was well done - homepage not as much, but the interior pages had lots of content besides the results. The site did not fulfill all of my submission requirements but I wondered if anyone else had received submissions of this type.
