    It tells you the average position of your URLs. This can help guide you in knowing which pages you need to optimize more.

    It also tells you the average CTR (click-through rate). For pages with a low CTR, you might want to optimize your meta description.

    I hope this helps. :)

    By knowing your average positions (& traffic) you can work out which pages are making you the most money and work out the potential for biggest gains.
    e.g. if you know your /blue-widgets page sits at p5 average and you know your conversion rate of that page is 5% you can calculate the uptake in possible profits (I use slingshots Click Through Rate study for CTR v positions)

    EXAMPLE
    'excellent blue widgets' = 2500 search volume
    /blue-widget
    position = 5
    CTR = 4%
    traffic = 100 visits for 'excellent blue widgets' keyword

    by building links and improving the page to reach position 4 you could potentially get:

    'excellent blue widgets' = 2500 search volume
    /blue-widget
    position = 4
    CTR = 5.1%
    traffic = ~128 visits for 'excellent blue widgets' keyword

    work out how much each visitor makes you by combining with conversion rates and then work out if the cost of improving the page is worth the extra 28 visits (or more if you get P2 or even P1)

    Extra tip - use the CTR data & position data to compare pages and identify low CTR pages to optimise meta data or check out what competitors are doing on the search pages that you could (rich snippets?)
