    aka Search Engine Marketing..
If I say I want to make a website into top 10 with SEM (Paid inclusion, paid directory submission etc) then how much, approx., I need to spend per month for that?

The website is in tough competition and keyword highly competitive, however I've full client backing with large stash of cash ;)

I, personally, prefer organic SEO rather than relying on shopping links.

However there are circumstances where you have reached to a saturation point and can't push further in organic SEO then SEM might come to rescue.

Difficult to guess until one can see the URL and analyze the competition, even in that case giving a figure would be tricky.

If you are in very tough competition, lets say you got keyword laptop, then I would say anything about $3k-$5k/month would be sufficient, initially, to go for shopping. This figure is towards higher end.

Otherwise anything between $2k-$3k/month would be sufficient if you are after no. 1-10 ranking.

All of above figure are towards higher end, a clever link buying strategy would help you to cut down on spending.

To sum up I would say give it a $2k-$5k range and work out for a comfortable cost which would be suitable for you and client.

With my past experience I would say client would come down to about 50% of the proposed price so provide a figure accordingly ;)

I don't have an idea. I do organic... try researching for good seo companies and compare what they can do.

It's going to depend a lot on the Web site, the content and structure of the Web site, it's internal linking structure, the links (and quality and relevance thereof) of the sites linking to it, and the niche you're trying to crack into the top ten for with your various keywords.
