    If you have money for marketing your site and don't have the patience to learn SEO then hiring a professional is a good option.

    Yeah I prefer to do it myself too - partly because I enjoy the learning experience and partly because I can't afford to pay someone else.

    As for the AdWords route I've found that it's very expensive for what it is. It could just be that my site isn't in a very good niche - I'm sure it works for some otherwise they wouldn't use it.
