I think the background has to go, try putting a solid white there. I think that will improve the look.

 

make it 100% width at browser..usally all search engine use maximum and stretchable width.

 

hey guys, thanks so far, what about the search results page? display ok?

 

I don't mind the width or the background. Search results are displayed nicely. The only thing I would change would be the green top and bottom borders around the search box, they don't really blend with that yellowy color.

I would suggest changing the color combination.
Everything else looks good.

Id say it looks good as it is, a nice simple design
