You can check in Google itself. Just type your domain name in Google search and see the results.

I agree with coykiesaol, the site:domain.tld search is the best way to tell. If big G returns any results, you are indexed, if they do not, you are not.

I would not submit your site to the SEs with their submissions forms. I would, however, register for webmaster tools and submit a sitemap.

then ping it and social bookmark it at a few of the larger SB networks (i.e., Reddit, Stumbleupon, Digg, Clipmakrks), and thats it, just wait. Most of the time it will happen on its own, very quickly, but sometimes it can take longer. There is no voodoo magic you can do to speed things up.

There is a "trick" that has spread around forums a lot this year, where you query domain info sites, like Alexa, for your domain to speed up SE indexing. But this has been abused so much, that I think the effectiveness has run out. If you still want to try, here is a site that will do 663 of them for you : freesitescripts.com

Personally, I find this method useless. If you want to use it, a much simpler approach would be to type : alexa.com/siteinfo/yourdomain.tld and leave it at that. Out of all these kinds of sites, alexa is the largest and gets the most traffic, if the approach works as designed, then alexa will be spidered long before any of the others are.

back in the day (like last year LOL) google used to crawl/index indeti.ca VERY VERY frequently (like every 2 seconds). So getting something indexed was as easy as posting it to identi.ca's homepage. Unfortunately, like most easy and overly-effective techniques, that trick is dead.

moral of my story is, stop sweating it. launch the site, register in GWMT, upload sitemap.xml, SB it, and leave it alone. start worrying about your content and backlinks, and don't waste too much energy on whether or not it is getting indexed. Google eventually make its way around to your site.

Like others said, use the site:YOURDOMAIN.COM search function. That's the easiest and most reliable way to check indexing. That said, with the newest Google changes you don't need worry at all about indexing. One or two incoming links will have Google find your site quickly. Sites are being indexed in less than 24 hours now. The only thing you have to worry about is if you are spamming low quality backlinks or doing something else (like stealing content) that will get the Big G to delist your site. Otherwise, if you've done some articles and directory submissions, your site should already be indexed within a couple of hours.

go to google.com and search with site:yourdomain.com

If your site was indexed, you should see some search results.

Since when is the identi.ca method dead? Did this just happen in the past 2-3 weeks?

I've been using it pretty successfully, but haven't had to use it in the last couple of weeks.
