I have a website with 300 articles that are high quality and unique.

The article index pulls 6 article listings to a page and there are numbers at the bottom similar to googles search engine where you can click next and so on to go to another page of articles. This should be very helpful to spiders.

Each article index page has an intro summaries for each article then you click the link and get the full article.

All my meta tags are correct. Title tags are dynamic. I have around 400 backlinks. Most of them being from PR5+.

Why am I not listed on the front page of google for the keyword I am targeting (the keyword my aritlces are about) My pagerank is a 7. My domain is 5 years old.

The frontpage of my website loads dynamic content. My site relevancy to my targeted keyword is 88%. I have a quaility design with a good code to content ratio.

Why am I not on the first page for google?

There may be many reasons why you aren't ranking.
Here are some questions that may help.

Are all of your articles indexed?

How many daily organic hits are you seeing from google for the long tail?

Do you have pages/articles in supplemental? If so, do you know why?

What is the structure of your title tag?

What is your crawl rate in google webmaster central?

How OLD are those back links, and how relelvant are the sites to yours? PR isn't everything.

Could you have the word TOO frequently on your page that you set off spam-filters?

How does your site compare to other sites on the front page?

Are you going for an insanely competitive keyword like "News"?

Have you done anything that would give google a negative "trust" in the past?

Are you running lots of ads on these pages? If so, how are you linking to them? Are you linking OUT to untrusted spammy pages?

You have 400 backlinks. That is impressive. However, backlinks with keywords as anchor texts really help with search rankings. Also, it makes a difference where your backlinks come from. If your site is for a BMW dealer, it helps to have backlinks from other car-related sites. It won't help much if your backlinks come from, say a site that sell cell phone batteries.

Difficult question to ask without know WHO already has a page 1 rank on Google. Too many variables in play. Give me the keyword(s) you are targeting(don't need your site if you don't want to disclose) and I will tell you what needs to be done.
