Hello, I'm developing a meta search engine for videos. I'm using YouTube and Dailymotion APIs, and I will embed the result videos and play them in my search page. I'm worried about having copyrighted materials within the search result, I don't have a way to tell if the video is copyrighted or no. I will write that the video is from YouTube or Dailymotion. Will I be in troubles if the result contained a copyrighted videos? Thank you.
More explanation as I could not edit the previous post. What if someone uploaded a movie or song to YouTube which he does not have a licence for it and someone used my search engine and played that movie or a song on my website, will I have a problem for such a scenario ? P.S: My search engine will use YouTube API
I am not 100% sure about this, but I think DMCA is about "storing" copyright files on your server. Since you are not storing them, simply embedding them from youtube etc, you will probably be fine. But kindly ask a lawyer about this, they can tell better.
Embedding videos is fine since there is a function for it. If you were to modify the video and post it, then you would have a problem.
