If you wanted to have a search of just your site, you could try Zoom Indexer here:

I can't put a live link yet, but it is at wrensoft.com/zoom

Basically it creates the script for your search function and indexes your site for you... and it works very well. They have a free version you can try out.

    Try this - swicki.com

You can put you google adsense in there too. You use to be able to "compare" results with those of Google, so I am assuming their results were different.

    Example: http://techcrunch-swicki.eurekster.com

I would recommend Google SiteSearch through the AdSense program. When setting it up you can add an option to only search within your website.

I think he is asking about how a search engine could be incorporated into hos site which does not depend upon google

My site has the best free site-only search.
GO to http://www.activesleep.com and the links on the left panel.
I'm not trying to spam my site it's just I'm updating it at the moment and I can't remember who provides the search.
    I THINK it's free-find.com or freefind.com
