Techcrunch reported about a new search engine that the creators of the amazing firefox plugin Foxmarks are working on now. Foxmarks synchronizes firefox bookmarks across multiple computers, actually 250 million bookmarks, from 20 million unique URLs, and The foxMarks guys are going to use to amazing mine of links to come up with a search engine. For many search queries, this should give much better results. Google! Watch out.
Bloody hell, that's a slick idea! Of course, if the idea takes off, they basically have an open API for spammers to influence their search results; they'd need to be able to accurately gauge which accounts are real and which were generated programatically.
Well I dont really think that Foxmarks is ever gonna be a threat to google. Just imagine if you would only get search results made out of Bookmarks. What if theres a new site? No one will know about it since its not in the Foxmark index hehe...too funny but perhaps Google and Foxmarks could cooperate but ah...i just remember that Googles got already a Bookmark Syncronizer called Google Browser Sync..so Google might have had the same idea as you just had. Its kinda scary...Mr. Google is going to know everything about our search behavior and our preferences..and I also read that they got funded by CIA..well am i paranoid or what? Cheers FFH
