SE using thesaurus?

    I've notice that overture returns the same results for "World War 2" for the terms "world war 2", "World war II", "ww2", "WWII", but not for "second world war". Does anyone knows which SE use a thesaurus? Do SE give more "points" for some keywords is you use synonyms?
