SE traffic drop after host change, Need 301?

    Hi Folks,
I just switched hosts a week ago, it took a couple of days for the DNS to propagate, and seems good now. But my SE traffic has dropped by 96%.

I see when checking multiple Google data centers my site has dropped positions from #1 -10 to 50 -100 position for many of my top KW's, on most servers. But still #1 on 3-4 of the 10 servers checked.

Should I have put a 301 on the old server?

Would the fact that the new server is in Canada (USA before) affect my positions?

Or is this normal and will come back, once all data centers sync?
It seems to be increasing slightly.

    Thanks
    Smokey

    Hi Smokey,
Changing your Domain or only host ? If host where want you redirect with 301 ?
If you only changed your DNS (Host) it's not affect your positions.
I think this is normal an will come back. Maybe google plan a PR update or index update. My sites are coming and going in the SERP's.
The Best way is waiting and looking what will be doing in SERP's.

    Hi Mike,
I only changed the DNS (Host), domain name is the same.
I would have thought once propagated traffic would come back to normal.
But it is still way down :-(
    Thanks
    Smokey
