http://www.bigfoot.com Look for the tiny text below the logo. If you're having trouble seeing it, type "free email" into your Google toolbar then use the highlighting tool to see where it is.
It's incredibly naive for a corporate site to engage in this sort of silliness. What sort of credibility does any site have that employs hidden text? Even if you wanted to be a blackhat, there are better and safer ways of doing it.
That isn't hidden text. Hidden text is when it is the same color as the background, that is just keyword stuffing. But yes, it is a dumb way to use it and looks horrible there.
MAN, a simple alt tag would suffice and even if they do rank well for now, it doesn't have any long term lasting. At least, i've never seen any black hatter survive more than a couple of months on a search engine. Why the hell did they have to do that? It's a bad hit to their credibility! (n)
more than likely some new employee in the IT department did it because he thought he was smarter than anyone else. I doubt if a well established site like this one will get hurt by this one little thing. I wonder though what else they may have done that we don't see yet?
I just checked and the hidden text is still there. I wonder if anyone in their company even looks at the website?
Let me toss out a question, maybe because it can be seen without highlighting, or viewing the source, it's not seen as hidden text. But checking the grammar, it does appears as keyword stuff, imho. What do you think? tom
Like other said, this was done by a rookie that has no idea of what SEO is. Amazing how a big PR8 site can have such a stupid webmaster in charge of things
Maybe the webmaster's next step will be to add a "hidden link" from this PR8 page to his blog or something like that ... ;-)
This is truely unbelievable and words can't explain how can one do this. What I dont understand is they try and stuff the keywords in the first title thats in bold, why would not stuff the rest in there and look legit. EDIT: Looking at the website again, the webdesign is pretty crappy and misaligned and has really bad presentation. The domain is great, however the webmaster is very bad and has a really crappy directory.
