Are search engine results (google specific) based on the current 'live' site or the cache version? here's why the question; yesterday site did not appear in top 100 for keyword, (cache date of site yesterday was 20 March), today site does appear in top 100 results for keyword (cache date of site today is 25 March). The site in question had a dramatic change before, and then after these two dates, not sure if the result I'm seeing today is based on last weeks site or this one? Any advice will greatly appease my frazzled mind Also does anyone know why the slow realease on cache dates is it possible they only release the cache version to the public every five days?..
Search results will be based on the current page in the memory of google. My guess is that they export this page to the cache every few days but not straight away. So there is likely to be a short period when your search results are based on the new page and the cache has not been updated. This issue is likely to be made more complicated by the time it takes for all these changes to propagate across the data centers. If you make a change to your site its best to wait a few weeks before you make any real analysis of the results.
