Hello people I'm sure I won't be the first to say this, but I despise od1.info. They rip off your blog and article sites. Last night I posted in the 'Google' thread about my new blog site getting indexed by Google within 10 minutes of submitting a sitemap(!!). So I awake today to find 4 comments in moderation. What were the comments? "Here’s another interesting post I read today by admin" All from the same IP. Turns out they just come along, copy your blog content, and are away with it, displaying it on their site. Now it seems their site is pretty big. Maybe 0.00001% of it is their own content. So what can be done about this? Am I expected to let them go and steal my new content (I didn't write those 70+ articles for nothing, after all!). I've banned their IP from commenting through WP control panel, and denied them access to the domain through htaccess - but what else can be done? I personally like the thought of spamming them twice as hard. Damn, this pisses me off. If you have any thoughts or ideas on this, please let me know
You can always convert your stuff as image file, that's what other webmasters are doing, but it takes longer for your site to load, unfortunately
On an html site you can cover it with .gif. That is like a clear window. You simply put it in a div. Of course, they can then go in the code which you have to protect with an html protector or scramble it. There are "no copy" or "no right click" scripts. There is one at the link below that I've used before. This isn't perfect either. And we don't need to discuss the work arounds. http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/noright3.htm There are more of these just try no copy script or some other key words to look over what's out there.
Uh...you can copy images easy enough. Ban their IP. Also check where there ip is coming from. If you are a english speaking site, and the ip is from China you might want to ban the whole block.
You can ban the ip through the host. That might do the trick. Of course, they can get another machine and access it that way. But most don't have more than 2 computers.
Guys Text 2 Image is NOT an option ... Dont we write the articles in order for Google to love us .. Google love content not images Why dont you report them to Google ?!
Hi There - Seems to be happening a lot. Here are some ideas, and I will look forward to other brainstorms: Place a notice of copyright explicitly stating that use of any article or RSS feed is prohibited. Place a notice at bottom of each article of known offenders Send an email to the offender requesting they stop Send a registered letter to the offender (there are ways to look up registrant's address) requesting they stop Have an attorney send a letter to the offender requesting they cease and desist Take them to small claims court On the last point, you may have a bigger law suit than small claims will handle, but it is the most affordable, since you can do it yourself. Yours - Scott
I have a google alert set whenever my URL is republished - usually it's garbled free reprint articles. If they are on Blogger, I flag the blog for objectionable content (since it's usually just keyword stuffing anyway...)
I think google is working hard to attribute work to it's original owners, include a link back to ur site in all ur feeds
A 'google alert'? Please can you go into a bit more detail on that. Thanks to everyone else for their suggestions, it has stopped od1.info but not the others as yet! Although I am looking into other ideas which you guys have stated. Thank you
Google Alerts. You can specify it to email you whenever any words of your choice are published elsewhere.
I think they are taking the articles straight from your RSS feed, there not much you can do about the ones already on there site however there is an option in wordpress that allows you to show a small clip from your post rather then the whole article in your RSS feed. So they will only copy part of your article and isn't really a big deal
