When your buying sitewides do you prefer Scrolling or Static? i see many using the scrolling option to display them, maybe through lack of space or maybe you just prefer that.

it all depends on how many ads you going to set it to right now I have it set at 5 for scrolling but as I only have one ad it don't scroll but IMHO don't set it to high

    Ofcourse static are always better..
But all these depends on price.
Scrolling should be cheaper I suppose.

I personally prefer Static Sitewides because IMO Scrolling sitewides does not bring much traffic!

I have mine as static and have set the limit at 10 as i think its a reasonable number without trying to force too much on.

MeetHere, theres an idea and a possibilty, having them cheaper if their scrolling.

I must admit ive went for static as the space is there and it looks fine where they are/can go but i can totally understand many using scrolling if their pushed for space, just a good idea i guess not to accept 20 or something if their going to be scrolling.

I do prefer static as well. But if scrolling is another option with a lower price, then it could be interesting.

Less visibility, less money but same PR benefit. I guess I don't mind that ;)

    Hello...

I can tell ya i use the scrolling and a few other owners have commented that its distracting and/or not to thier liking which they are entitled.
Myself i see no problems with it as i myself like them so i suppose its a matter of ones choice and taste.

Scrolling or Static they are both picked up by google immediatly so i cant say i see a difference.

    thx

coolsitez, it sounds decent doesn't it, if the owner wants to do that and offer scrolling slightly cheaper.

Hi malcolm1, absolutely, a matter of choice and taste and how it may fit in with the owners project and plans.

True their still giving much benefit.

That's what I always suggest. However still see many webmasters switches scroll on for 1 link
I always write in emails: scrolled ads will scroll only if total height of all ads is greater than height (configurable) of scrolled box.
Also please always review styles for scrolled box. It' not so difficult.
Seems Malcolm1 knows that well as I found all his scrolls always adjusted.
For background you can even use image! Just a case of imagination.

When it reaches the point of scrolling it appears to me that the webmaster is just looking to maximize the available real estate. I doubt anyone actually hangs around to read the ads? Personal preference? Static ads.

    Well let me say this..

I like them and much like creed said it does compact the info and offer more space
but at the same time it does catch the eye and sooner or later your bound to look..
wether you like them or not. :)

I will let ya know one thing and that is that since i added (site of day) and (Scrolling Ads)
one or both (not sure) but increased the cached dates to were they are almost daily in the
directories that they are installed on. ;)

    thx

I find that the scrolling ads look tidier I use one on mainsearches.

I suppose a static link could bring more traffic but both are the same as far as passing pr.

    Thanks Brian

Previously i had scrolling ads at one of my directory but someone told me that its useless, then i changed it to static one and i got few links there immediately ;) Don't know that both are good or only static one is good

I prefer static text links , If google is behind paid links they will surely know that scrolling text links are paid , a normal person does not give a scrolling link :D
We have to emulate "normal people" to survive :p
