I am planning to start a script/template/others selling site.I am going to sell my own and my teams scripts via it. At first we are planning to sell small scripts and templates. Will it work ??? How can I market the site ? Will I get some link exchange from famous sites ? What are the Payment methods :? (will ordinary Paypal work ) ?
Well as to whether your scripts and templates would sell depends on whether they are useful to the people you market them to. Take a look at the For Sale/Content forum here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76 , you see a number of people selling scripts. You can pretty much do the same if you want to market solely to the DP visitors. You definitely need a website to showcase a Demo of the script and probably provide a Paypal Buy Now button for people to buy the script from you. Once you get the order, you send them the script files. I recommend you take a look at how the others have done so here. You don't really need to do major link exchanges and all that but if you are exploring a long term result, it would make sense. But in Digitalpoint, you will find a great number of people looking for high quality scripts which would get you quite busy.
Use Google and check for 'php script sites' you should find a number of directories which you can list your scripts in. One popular place that I visit a lot is http://www.hotscripts.com .
If I am investing over it will it work ??? I am going to rent coders and make more scripts and start the site.So ....... ???
What do you mean ? Are you saying that you be investing money in this venture by hiring free-lance coders to create scripts for you to sell ? Well, you definitely need to invest, that's for sure. Just make sure that when you contract programmers that it is written in the contracts that you have full rights to the scripts and they will not retain any rights to them. Otherwise you may land up with copyright issues in the future. Finding scripts directories and submit details of your scripts will indeed help you gain customers easier. Submission to search engines and link exchange will help in the long term but it is by no means the only way to do it. You will need to do a little legwork on finding where to list your scripts at. Make sure that on your websites those script demo works. I've seen some offering scripts but they appear to be broken and that is a sure way to lose customers. Before selling, make sure that the scripts are tested, retested and virtually bug free.
This market like the hosting industry is very oversaturated ... Unless you will provide a very high quality service and you are prepare to invest a huge sum of money forget about it ...
The two biggest problem I have with people selling scripts on websites is: 1. when they don't have a demo where I can see the script in action - screenshots for me are not enough 2. they don't have documentation for the install or the docs leave out steps or have a poor translation If I find script sites that show these two, I am more inclined to buy if it fits my purpose. Just a couple tips
