Scripts for bloggers and web designers

    Hi there,

I'm a web developer and designer for a few years now.
I'm very good at it but it just doesn't work for me.
My niche is around 1600 euros for a website before taxes (which, here, gives you half at the end of the road).
For this kind of money you have a well designed website created from scratch, a 100% written according to your needs with a total back-end administration.
No CMS used, no constraint. Only a blank php file to begin with and the clients dreams are the limit.
I tried to change my fees but I've reached a kind of magical amount: below this amount, I'm earning absolutely nothing and above, clients prefer to work with a web agency.
I could almost deal with it if I wasn't a perfectionist.
Because of that I can work 2 months, almost night and day for a project.
The clients are, of course, delighted, but I'm just exhausted and earn almost nothing compared to the job done.

I believe it's better to know and redirect your flaws instead of trying to fight them, this is why I think it would be better to give up the websites market and create some useful scripts and web apps I could sell several times for small to average prices than websites that would give me a single and questionable income.

I think about Jquery/php/ajax scripts to include in others projects or plugins for Wordpress (slideshows, galleries, media players, text editors, you name it...).
I believe that perfectionism would be a better friend in this area and would even make the difference and eventually pay off.

I don't plan to create new things as I believe the needs have been filled already but I think there is room for improvements.
The Apple way: do what has been done already but fill the gaps, make it cuter, simpler and better.

I plan to create scripts which would be free in their basic versions and affordable in their full versions (unlocked features, psd templates, full support, the whole shazam).

My question is: is this niche worth it nowadays?
Is there room for another developer and commercial but affordable scripts in this area?
What are your thoughts, suggestions, advices about all this?

(Please don't tell me how NOT to be perfectionist (or to see a doctor!) or to raise my fees. I tried it all and nothing worked).

    Thank you.

PS: English is not my mother tongue so don't pay attention to my mistakes.
