Does anyone know of something that can verify that publishers have not taken my advertising banner down? Meaning that when I purchase advertising until say.. May '09, I'd like a script to verify that my link is on that site until that time, and alert me if the website takes it down. I say this because I've started a big advertising campaign, and want to verify that all these ads I'm purchasing don't vanish 1/2 way through the campaign.
Huh, I'm an advertiser myself, and I never looked into that. Interesting. It's funny that I never have. It's probably because if I don't get a certain number of visitors in a week from a particular site, I take the ad down anyway. Can't you just do that? I'm sorry I can't help you other than that. ... I am curious on the answer to your question, though. If there is one, how can you be certain that it works 100% of the time anyway? I couldn't do it, just from that thought alone.
Good thinking. I might have to develop something around this idea. Generally, I keep all of my ads in an excel spreadsheet. I have like a "last checked' column. I'll go through and check some on occasion and put the date. So the next time I get around to doing it, I just look for the oldest dates. This isn't very effecient though, admittedly. And, I probably go months at a time without checking on them which isn't the best of ideas either.
And can you imagine if you advertised in hundreds of sites? Whew! Fuck that noise. I wonder if there is a good software out there. I wouldn't use it, because of the reason I just gave, but I am curious....
