Script testing ground

    Hello everyone,

For the last few months I've been itching to get my hands dirty in some command prompts.

I was wondering where I could find a relatively good VPS host that could be used for education purposes. I know this has been asked before. However a good percent of the people asking this question where looking for hand outs.

Since I will be only using this for my own self betterment i really don't need allot of Space. Just enough to work on projects month to month. I'm thinking about a Gigabyte of space and around 4 gigs of bandwidth would handle it. SSH access is necessary and i do not particularly care for a WHM panel.

Let me know what you folks have.. around

If you have a LAN in your home you can set your own up, get a copy of VMware server and go to one of the many places giving free VM downloads (legally free OS's) and you can practice to your hearts content for free. Or you can install it locally in a VM for free if you have the one machine. If you have a problem with it hit me up and I will be more than happy to help you with the set up.

    I second Saxon.
Setting up a server at home was the best thing I ever did as far as a testing ground is concerned.

If you look around, you should easily be able to find an older system that's still powerfull enough to play with for less than $100. I've seen stuff that would work for $25-$50 from time to time on Pricewatch.

I haven't used them, but have been recommended these:
    http://iwhic.com/vps.html
which is $8 a month for a VPS with 6gb of space and 100gb of bandwith.

I myself am looking for something like this, as i would love to get using some command prompts for some projects I've got lined up.

Since it is a testing ground for your work, you can get a cheap vps for less than $10 bucks.
