Script for anyone to submit news?

    I want to start a news site basically better than what my small town has. However, I want the public to be able to submit news. Is there a nice script for this or should/could I use wordpress?

    You could use Wordpress and create individual accounts for users to post articles, or you could use http://buddypress.org/ which is powered by Wordpress but is better for building community sites.

    I am website developer and can design a website with admin panel to upload the news and user can visitors can read that news.
