Does anyone know if it's possible to skrape(had to mispell- DP was blocking the word) the amazon kindle store to find out how many copies of each book is being sold? I know this site attempts to do it: http://www.novelrank.com/ But they're extremely inaccurate. Thanks, -Ryan
NovelRank - Are sales estimates 100% accurate? Book sales estimates are still estimates, and for books selling a low volume ( less than 100 copies a month for instance ) the estimates are most likely accurate within 1%. In the end, it is all based on sales rank changes rather than sales numbers, and NovelRank should not be used to dispute hard sales figures from publishers or Amazon. I do not think it is possible for external viewers to get an accurate figure like the seller would. Their site is kinda pointless though, if Amazon itself would give you accurate figures
Yea they'd give you accurate figures for YOUR books, but not for someone elses (i.e: your competition)
Yea, well that's what I mean, it's still pointless since the same data you'd get on Amazon, is the same data you'd get on that site. Umm... really, what's the point of their site. It's not like they took their worthless data and produced some kinda analytic reports or some other kinda calculations out of them for the users. They're actually producing less data than Amazon would, that's kinda funny to me, don't ya think?
Yea it is, I don't find it useful at all. Someone's attempt to create a dumb site and charge indie publishers to advertise
