Frankly I couldn't care less for Lacey/Justin/whatever . The fact that Helvetii exposed his true identity wasn't the nicest thing in the world but it was public info and he was a dumbass for leaving himself exposed . However he does champion "the truth" and trows around whit words that are less then fit . I for one never started a thread about the good things Christianity does or how great the EU is . Helvetii doesn't have a problem boasting that "India gave jobs to poor , jobless US" . I'm sorry to hear that my actions are causing you distress since you are my friend , just look at the whole situation trough the prism of a generalized Newton's 3rd law .
Thanks Alexis @Apoc: Certain Kinds of Torture are legal under Indian Laws as far as I'm aware. We have 3 degrees of torture with the highest degree involves electrocution. If something other than what is allowed is done then guilty should be punished. Though I'm not very sure about what was done and what is allowed. That was not before it was repeatedly pointed out how we live on US money, it was necessary to show that everything is reciprocated.
@Apoc - Just so you know the statement about it depressing me referred to the general situation and not you in particular, my comments next to that were focused on you however just based on my idea of what's "fair". It is normal and perfectly acceptable for a person to be proud of the good things about oneself, one's country, etc. however it is also normal to not wish to bring up a topic that reflects negatively on one of these things. If a topic were started that stated a negative fact about India then I have no doubt that Helvetti would agree with it, although perhaps also defend his country. Again, you would not start a thread about abuse in the church, but you may post in it something like "Yes, it's sad this happens. I'm glad these days measures are being taken to prevent it." Then, after people scream for a few pages about how every priest rapes children and you are allowing and encouraging this, or what have you, you may become a tad more defensive of yourself and your beliefs. If you don't want to start a thread about the good things about your home or religion that's fine, but there is no harm in doing so. I know that when my country legalizes gay marriage I'll be making a thread about it - and rightly so - it's a big deal to me I hope that makes sense anyway; my point is more general than anything else - and indeed, you are my friend, as is Helvetti, so I don't like the arguing, lol, but I'll live - I just felt those particular issues you brought up could just have easily have been thrown at a number of other members and are not necessarily a bad thing. /endrant (Sorry if that's rambly. I've been coding for hours and am a tad wired.)
I wish that were a fair comparison. A more accurate comparison would be if someone within the Indian govt. leaked the identities of every spy they have inside of Pakistan, the details of every counter intelligence program run against Pakistan, and the ramblings and speculations of various Indian state officials about the current leadership of Pakistan. To make the comparison complete, I would have to play the role of Helvetii and pipe up with some bullshit like, "Its about time someone exposed the lies the Indian government has been perpetrating against Pakistan. Their officials should be brought to justice and the people releasing this information should be praised as heroes and supported financially. Obviously, expecting Helvetii to sit there and suck that up would be to expect something completely unreasonable, but that is the steaming plate of cr*p he is dishing up on a daily basis. He's not just a bit out of line, he's completely off the reservation(was that an Indian joke?). Its like watching a slow motion train wreck. Kind of sad actually.
there, you got the truth. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2032817&p=15466548#post15466548
Holy shit you are right . India , Laos & Sudan are the only retards left that didn't ratified the UN Convention against Torture . At least you could have ratified it for civility's sake . Wow , no offense but that is Incredible India . @Alex I understand your position . One of the reasons I haven't open full guns on Helvetii is because I consider him a friend . The arguing in the last two days is quite wide but it's not really a in your throat kind of thing (like we had whit Menj). Anyway you should get some shut eye , coding is hard work .
You and I have different definitions of what open fire means Well you signed the thing , you just won't ratify it . Sorry but that does make you hypocrites . N Korea aren't hypocrites , they didn't even signed it . They recognize they are monsters .
You mean like US and other countries are hypos for not ratifying Comprehensive test ban treaty and NPT?? Atleast we didn't sign it.
LOL I thought we (you) were talking about the allegation that signing something and not ratifying it makes a country hypocrite.
To be more specific about how your country is run by hypocrites , because although you signed the UN Treaty Against Torture you never bothered implementing it a.k.a. ratifying it . And nothing more to it .
So by the same logic, US is also run by hypocrites since they signed a treaty (CTBT) but failed to ratify while India didn't even sign it
What's more important to the citizen - no nukes or no torture ? I for one would rather live in a place like the US who didn't ratified the CTBT but has ratified the UNTAT . At least I know they won't torture me and say "that's the law" .
They would break the law and disregard the treaty they are signatories to and torture you. Thats what actually makes them hypocrites. Gitmo? I remember you support that thing a lot which makes you too a hypocrite. The treaties are signed by executives who dont have the authority to take decisions on behalf of the country, that is the domain of the legislative arm. The fact that its not been ratified means that its not the will of the people. I know this is complicated for you but stay with me. I'm not sure how someone can be a hypo for not believing in something they never claimed to believe in. Now I need you to give me a simple straight forward answer to this simple straightforward question: By your logic, US is also run by hypocrites since they signed a treaty (CTBT) but failed to ratify it? Also why do you like American ass so much? What have they done for Romania? They changed your life in someway? You think they are all angels with halo's on their heads who never do anything wrong? Do you think they should be criticized at all? Why do you need to run to their defense every fucking time?
I never said I support Gitmo . TBQH most of the guys there should have been shot dead . The US keeps some them there because a lot of them can be a invaluable asset for black ops . As for the invaluable lot they are just collateral . You also need to remember that to get a journey to Guantanamo Bay you need to be arrested by the military , something that's quite rare . Well I tried to keep the blame on only those who signed it but if the legislative let the executive sign and then not ratify they are even bigger hypocrites . Also most states allow for the executive to exert some degree of power of legislative power . I doubt they couldn't even issue a order to all the police and military trough which they could forbid torture . So they still are hypocrites . I don't care about CTBT - strategic weapons are a issue in which most countries lie their ass off , this is not about if any country might be hypocritical in any way . This is about basic human rights and how they are far more important then nukes . How can India call itself a democracy when it allows the use of torture against it's own citizens ? TBQH I don't love the US . I used to hate them before they began tacking action against global warming . They did do a lot indirectly and some things directly . Indirectly if the US wouldn't have won the cold war I would still be living under the iron curtain . The bloody revolution that gave me my Freedom would have been crushed and silenced . Directly they did pumped a lot of money into recovery programs and lobbied for our entrance into NATO . They are not by a mile angels (not even the Swiss aren't angels but they are quite close) . I do criticize some of the people in the US . I don't agree whit their policy of feeding the dragon . I don't run to their defense every time but the truth is that when i compare them whit China they look like angels . I'd rather live in a world dominated by the US then in one dominated by China .
@Obamanation - I wasn't involved with that and was speaking in a more general sense; sorry if that wasn't clear. I haven't been at all active here lately and I wasn't previously aware of what seems to be a little bit of an ongoing issue. @Apoc - I appreciate your position. People argue. I haven't been here for the last two days of whatever has been up and I wont really be getting involved now either, I just saw a lot of people attacking Helvetti over posting Lacey's info and that is what got to me. It is time I chilled and thought about bed - 9 AM here. They changed all these APIs up on me and it took all night to get bloody Facebook posting working in my game. Bastards! I'm off to read a little more, finish my drink then crash. A pleasant evening to all of you.
Personally, I feel that Helvetii has gone too far. Listing names of family members. Threatening to contact them all, including parents. One comment I read by Lacey/Justin in the suggestion section was how embarrasing it was about the spanking. I get that. How would you feel if an angry stranger is saying they are contacting all your loved ones, telling them your posing as a female and giving them information about your private sexual life? I don't buy Helvetii's insinuation that his prime concern is stopping "identity theft". I think it's more of a personal grudge. On the other hand, do you remember that thread long ago where someone said to be careful of Laceygirl she might click bomb your sites? Lacey responded, not by denying it, but passively suggesting she may do it again. According to what I've read, Lacey/Justin insinuated she may sabatoge Helvetii's site after he posted this information. So, I'm not defending Lacey. I don't think it's a normal reaction to threaten to click bomb or otherwise sabotage another webmasters site. On the other hand, I feel about the same about threatening another webmaster by contacting all of their loved ones to humiliate them. We should be able to have a discussion in P & R without it ever going that far.
