Scheduled online video vs. watch whenever online video.. what's better?

I'm trying to research the benefits of having a web series that airs once a week at a certain time vs. just putting it up once a week and letting people watch it whenever. I'm told that having it air at a certain time means I can get viewers to a site at certain time and market other shows they might like.. but as a viewer I'm much more inclined to watch online video whenever I feel like it, or when I happen upon it.

Any thoughts on this? The beauty of online video is that you can watch it whenever, isn't it? Would anyone tune in to a show like the Daily Show if it aired online once a week with no chance of watching it later?

    Thanks for your input!

You should have it so that viewers can watch your videos anytime, but you should also set release times for new content. That way you will still get that rush to your site but viewers will still have the option of watching your videos at their leisure.
