    Actually the word "easter" came about from a biblical mis-translation (more than likely intentional) of pasca "passover" and was named most in part for a sexual fertility rite (Ishtar) practiced by "heathen pagans" in the springtime.
    It is said that this so-called intentional misrepresentation brought in more members to a large denominational church that still exists to this day.
