So I want you discount for me the total cost, instead of 4700$ please make it 4200$ so that i can make payment to you on the right time that no issue. For personal at the moment it's hard for me to get more fund, and i worry too much about it, i hope you understand my circumstance and help me for that issue. Thanks

That's the main point of this thread, i paid upfront and expect a quality result in my detail requirements and in return you gave me a very bad quality of the project (for clearly : i just look at it and still haven't get the code) so i cancel and want the moneyback but you don't do that, i don't want to make this thread too long to dispute with you for this detail "...first he started the project at 5000$, after 1 week he said to me i cant pay 5000, i will pay 4200$..." because that no need to do, it's not the point.

    Hi Peter,

    check an updated design.
I don't think that we should make login area and header separated. It looks good like it is now.

    2007/4/26, Peter Phan < >:

    Hi,

    - About the colors : they are slightly dark
    - The header : seem it's too big so you can make it smaller and can get
    rid of the vector picture.
    - The login panel : too big so please make it smaller and do you think
it need space with the logo above ?
    - The rest : good

    * Please take a note that the header and footer will be re-use for
inner-pages that same as FB so please make sure the size will be extract
so that we can adapt it without any problem.

    Regards,

i.e after 20 days we started project , and instead of his designer, i am correcting design

Stupid move on his part but lets hope you two get it sorted out amicably without this fighting. I know its hard as you both are probably having valid points and feel justified but public bitching isn't going to get you anywhere.

Good luck to both of you is what I say.

I am a web designer and database developer for a company in California, and when I have time I like to do freelance jobs. I used getafreelancer.com and other similar websites to look for jobs, and all of them look to care more about their commission than conducting a customer care business.

First of all, they don't allow you to communicate directly with the other party because they want to make sure they charge you the "proper commission". All the communication is conducted through their system, which is very limited. If you get 20 bids how do you choose the best one? Sometimes you want to call the other party, ask questions, etc., have a more person to person discussion. Also, using their system you can not sign a contract with the other party since you don't know his contact info. They force you to use their "escrow" system to make sure they control the flow of the money so they can get their commission, and after that they don't care about you. Moreover, if you are a provider and your bid wins, getafreelancer.com charges you upfront 10% (other websites, like getacoder.com 15%) from the bid amount before you even receive the money from the other party. What about if the parties have a problem and they both agree to dump the project? That is their problem, because the website took already the commission upfront from the provider.

I was in few similar situations like @codingtable and @bizman911 on these websites and everything was caused by the fact that you can not communicate directly with the other party. If I would know upfront all the requirements for a job I wouldn't bid so low, or, when I posted a job, I would pick another provider. Image these websites don’t even allow you to post a link to your website in your profile. You try to conduct business with somebody or, even worst, you send money to somebody that you don’t even know who it is. You don’t have any guarantee for your money back.

After these bad experiences I stopped using such websites to search for work. In most of the cases it was a waist of time, energy and resources for me and the other party, because I’ve been picked or I picked somebody and after days or weeks we realized the job required work that was worth more than the bid amount. In the last few months I’ve got all my freelance jobs from friends or referrals.

Today one of my employees told me about a new website www globaljobstrading.com that allows you to post jobs for bidding, which is communication free and commission free. He used it in the past and seems to be pleased with the service they provide. I hope this web site will not be a disappointment like the others. I registered today on it, but if any of you used it before please share your experience with us.

I've been trying to figure out what would be the best move for me when hiring someone to code a project I'm thinking of starting. YOu're response really answered a few questions I had. I even started this thread to ask for help.

GAF do allow contact between parties, only after you have chosen the party though, and they have allowed this for some time now.

As for the current dispute, it's difficult to tell who is in the wrong here, it should not be the task of users here to try and do so, however, if they insist....

I do see several negative feedback on codetables profile which bizman posted, however, bizman also has (only) one feedback, and his feedback states the following:

I get the feeling that bizman thinks he can get coders to work for a month and then decide whether or not he is going to pay them, or even IF he is going to pay them.

Your only feedback indicates you are a person who changes their mind bizman, and then thinks the coders should foot the bill for it.

codertable 's profile clearly states he charges $30 an hour, normally.

The total price he gave you is for a completed project. If you gave him $1000 in cash, you must have been satisfied that he did $1000 worth of work, and if that is the case, you should not be on here lambasting him.

He may not have finished the project, which means you don't have to pay him the remaining $4000. That's how it works legally. Your contract has become 'frustrated' legally.

Your comments about 5% of the work are not reliable either, because your only feedback rater on GAF states also:
Your only feedback clearly indicates you don't have much of a clue, they had issues with you, and you changed you mind about design and made them redo it.

I'm presuming they redid the project just so they could get money from you, so you're not entirely without blame here IHMO.

I'm not saying codingtable has not done anything wrong, but to be honest, it looks and seems like he has done SOME work for you, it may or may not be $1000 worth of work, but whatever it was, I'm not convinced you're qualified to decide if it was $1000 worth of work.

As far as the negative comments about codertable go, I looked at all 3 of them - he has only 3 out of 32 reviews as a provider of services.
The earliest neg he admits he was late, apologised, and explained he was ill.
The second was for a $10 graphic, which he claims the buyer wouldn't pay him. It's possible he never sent the completed image, which is understandable, because then the buyer keeps it and he gets zilch.
The third negative feedback is from someone called webgalis, so i clicked on HIS feedback rating, and boy, that was VERY entertaining reading.
    http://www.getafreelancer.com/users/feedback_248422.html
check it for yourself. He has had nasty arguments and disputes with half of the people he ever got to do work for him, so his negative testimony could not be relied upon IMHO.

I do NOT know codertable, I have never used him (even though I do have a GAF account), nor do I know anyone who knows him. I am going solely on the 'facts' presented in this thread, and from the stuff I took the time to go and see at GAF, and IMHO bizman has no cause for this attack.

The man did some work for you, and you should have expected to pay him something for that work.

I can't comment on lateness or quality, and I don't think I can rely on your own opinion of this, because you seem to expect that coders/freelancers should only get paid if you are 100% satisified with the work. That might give you grounds for a reduction in final price, if it were true, but I hardly think it would ever be grounds to get the job done for nothing.

This is a public forum, and I think you should just shut up now bizman, we are not here to act as judge and jury, but if you asked me to, I would find you guilty. This was a very bad way to try and resolve a business dispute which was nowhere near as bad as you were trying to imply.

I have set-up my own freelanceing website and would hate to see things like this going off on my site as when someone reads a thread like this one it could put them off using good sites like GAF.
I hope that you resolve this like true gentlemen.

bizman would you consider letting codingtable finish the project,as that may be the only way to resolve this isue.and you never know you may actually like the final result.

I have posted projects in the past and have been asked for the payment to be sent direct to the programmers paypall,This i would not do and told the programmer i will pay %100 escrow and only relise when the project was completed i found that programmers allways agreed and they did the project and i paid them,no isues:)all happy:)pos feedback:) good projects:)

I allways put at the bottom of listed projects(100% escrow payment to be relised only on completion)

    here i am back-----------------------
i dont have so much time to reply to this thread as bizman has buisness of harassing all coders mentally, financially and through these types of forums.

I got his project and he said 5000, then 4400, then 4200, all know so i wont repeat again..........

the main point is, buyer like these treat coders as servant or slaves

like u read , he filed a case and paypal didnt accepted the case, that means after 45 days, paypal gives you 45 days time to take back your money, so who will pay my 45 days work.

he made 2 escrows each of 1000$, released one because he was happy, after 50 days, he comes and tell me, he cancels the project, who is going to pay for my 50-60 days work.

We freelancers work and earn, i code daily for 16-17 hours nonstop and then i get earnings and eat food, if buyers like bizman comes from every corner, we will be killed one day.

Talk to his designer, he said in post he has to pay designer also, that designer send 5 drafts to him he approved one, we started of the project, after 15 days, he changed the design completely

i am not lying, i have each and every email sent by him regarding, good work, start of project time, doing 5000$ project to 4000$ , design change, all they shows up

nobody can look at my desktop, if DP allowed desktop sharing, i would have done it there only to show you all, but i know i was not wrong at any place, i returned him 1000$ from 2000$ because i myself knew that my work was not worth 2000$

seriously telling, i dont search internet much, but what i see on sites like getafreelancer, i am the only coder who has best facebook clone in the world and i think i am the second person after www.facebook.com who completed photo tagging

can any make here www.facebook.com in 30-40 days?

Regarding quality, i have given bizman all codes which i developed for him anyone can see and estimate quality, he has live demo

i totally agree with KRISPY, not because he is on my side but because he is saying truth and i cant understand one point

"WHY BUYERS LIKE BIZMAN TRY TO BECOME PRESIDENT OF COUNTRY WHEN THEY ARE NOT VALUED TO BECOME A POSTMAN EVEN" SICK:(

Maybe this is due in large part to the fact that one party is unable to speak or write a coherent sentence?
