I'm posting this here because PMing any mod/admin doesn't seem to be doing anything, they're not even responding to any of my queries, is digitalpoint guy dead or something?

Upon checking out this guy: okayface I found that he is selling loads of domains that got an illegally obtained Google PageRank, a rank that ranges from 0 to 10 and is based on the quantity and the quality of the backlinks to the domain, those domains sold got very little to no backlinks at all.

I searched for more about the method used and I found this guy explaining it in details. Obviously we can't do more about it than wait for Google spam team to catch up, it seems they've already been alerted but no response from them.

    Check this screenshot out!

All the posts of the scammer are in the BST section, no contribution to the forum AT ALL. And..... it seems he's being supported by the mods being having so much scam threads and no reaction from them. :)

    gj dp!

If you see a post that violates our rules, use the Report Post option.

I took it that he's already been reported as he has a whole bunch of such threads and a lot of people who caught him.

Also your rules don't say anything about reporting a scammer,
which in other words mean they are being supported.

Usually those buying the fake PR domains are not aware of it (and pretty dumb..) hence he's not been hit with negative rating and I cannot submit him one out of nowhere as it's then considered to be itrader abuse.

Hmmm , You can buy one of his domain names , Then leave negative feedback for him :D

Its better if you get in touch with the following mods via PM in these cases :

    deluxdon - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=23452
    sarahk - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=29
    Smyrl - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=76

    Hope it helps :)

Isn't verifying the page rank independently part of the due diligence before you make a purchase?

Well kinda but in this matter, everything seems to be legit from the looks and some checkers cannot detect the real PR and whether the PR is fake e.g DP's own system http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2358564 look at the Sale Data, and not everyone is aware of hole.

There are all sorts of arguments one could make about more any part of any sale someone makes. Is PageRank accurate? I don't know... we only report what Google tells us it is. PageRank IS their algorithm after all. You could say buying links cases fake PageRank as well. Same with Alexa... Did someone boost their Alexa numbers artificially? Beats me, we simply report what Alexa tells us it is (again, it's their algorithm/numbers). It's not practical for anyone to expect us to tell the entity that DOES Alexa (or PageRank) that the number they gave us is not right.

It's like anything... You could say someone selling you appIe.com is fake because you thought you were buying apple.com for $25. If someone is too lazy to do their own due diligence with ANYTHING they buy, they certainly can't expect us to do it for them.
