Obviously I have missed something here, so I retract my previous statement as I obviously don't know all the details, but from what I understand, people pay $$ to catch a domain, which then has to be approved, what happenes after this?

Well, there is most obviously some form of deception going on here, without any shadow of doubt, for I have right here, loads of communications from Dan directly, talking, sharing ideas etc about the whole development of TasteDrop.

If I had nothing to do with it as you are claiming, in the slightest, why would I be privvy to certain information regarding the development of this platform and have the emails in my possession of many of the Gold memberships?

I'm afraid that it is you, that is making very little sense here, trying to make out that I had nothing to do with this at all.

I still havn't got much idea of who you are or why on earth you are writing in such a manner, this whole situation is just absurd and makes very little sense at all.

Frankly, I'm very glad to be bloody well out of it, it sounds just about as crooked as it can possibly get.

The whole set up is just weird, you guys launching into this thread, telling me that I had nothing to do with TasteDrop, this despite the last couple of months very indepth communications with Dan, talking directly with me about the full development of this platform, amongst other things.

The lot of you just sound absolutely bonkers.

I'm glad to be out of it.

I wish I could advise you, but the whole set up, this whole situation, has me absolutely mystified as to what was really going on here behind the scenes.

At the end of the day, all I know, is that domains that I was catching with my assigned Dynadot API TasteDrop drop catching tool, were not ending up in a Dynadot account over which I had any control whatsoever and these same domains that I caught using the application, were later held against me by ransom, telling me that if I wanted these domains in question and most notably Reg-No.com which I caught for my own use, I was told that if I wanted this domain specifically, I would have to go and bid on it at Sedo.com just like anyone else.

That annoyed the living dickens out of me, for I was led to believe that the domains were going to a shared Dynadot account belonging solely to myself and Dan, who was at the time talking to me about partnership deals with TasteDrop, instead they were dropping into a third party Dynadot account.

Anyone caught in the same position, I think quite rightly so, would have been like me, as annoyed as all hell about the situation.

You opened your mouth and called out something to be a scam. That gives me the full right to come in here and chip in my 2cents to backup the company which you are talking down upon. Yes, I speak with Dan and Jason on pretty much a regular basis. Yes, I use the tool they are trying to sell. Yes, I have caught a number of domains with that tool. NO, I am not part of the TD team although I have joined the forum in the past.

I found this thread thanks to you posting the external link to this webmaster forum in your post on NP (Which I also believe is against their rules)..I am not going to sit back and watch you slander someones business when I myself know the people and tools behind it.

The investor himself has come in and said exactly what I thought he would. You did not put up any money..So why on earth would you have any control over these domains? You got to try everything, you got to see that it does in fact work. So...Goto the registrar, open an account, deposit the needed funds to get your own API key, purchase the tool from Dan, and goto work. Do that and the names will show up in your account and you will have full access over them.

As a interested bystander, I agree with what you say about the OP's post may have an impact on others using the tasteflop service. (and he gets a +rep from me for the warning)
But to call a website honest, is laughable.
I seen a honest car the other day... being chased by the cops... (I think it was the driver they were after )

It sounds like the OP did not even know who you were.. so why do you assume he wanted to use "your" $$$?

That's where this whole thing becomes a bit suss for me...
So why then? why did you let some person (who was not meant to know who you were) use your account to buy domains? What did you expect to get out of letting him do that? some great domains?
And what were you going to give to the person that spent the time to get you those great domains?

    Crazy... (you asked)
Seriously, 0% return, means you get 100% of your money back. where I come from, that is not called taking a "financial risk"
Anyway... maybe you should have made that clear to the OP before he started using the account.. Oh that's right.. your id was meant to stay hidden.. but you forgot to add privacy to the whois info straight away.

He was not meant to know who you were, so how could he.. It was only because you fumbled the private registration on the whois that he new how to contact you.. and when he did contact you, and then Dan, to find out why you had his domains.. Dan severed ties with him, and gave no explanation as to why his domains were in your account.

This all sounds a bit suss to me..

Anyway thanks for the heads up Mark.. +rep for your efforts :D

    Cheers
    James

I don't know any of the parties involved in this, and I'm not familiar with this drop catching stuff, but as a third party observer of this I think there are a few things here that should be highlight since this has turned more into a pissing match than anything:

    1) The accuser, Magawr (Jared?), is stating that TasteDrop is committing fraudulent transactions.

    2) TasteDrop (Dan?) has come here defending themselves (though I must admit I don't see them denying the involvement of the 3rd party account).

    3) The third person involved (Mark?) has appeared here an is defending his actions.

Magawr - if what you are claiming is true about all of this, then I would suggest you stop posting here right now. Get off the computer and go talk to a lawyer that specializes in Intellectual Property Law and work with them to sort this out. If you feel the domain was worth a lot of money and that they misrepresented their service to you, you could have ground to press charges.

Dan and Mark - I know you guys are here trying to defend yourselfs, but you're really just putting fuel on the fire and making things worse. I would advise you to stop replying.

To all three of you - regardless of how this mess pans out, only a few things will happen are a result of posting on DP, either a) you will get yourselves banned, b) you will start insulting each other a lot and will provide the other party with information to use against you in court, or c) a flood of people will come into this thread and it will get out of control and make things even worse off.

Do yourselves a favor and get to a lawyer, stop the pissing match here.

Thanks James, at least one person see's this situation exactly correctly.

Also, they have been insinuating that I didn't put any money into this, but they were more than happy to use my time for many weeks, for which I have not received a single dime for, in fact, this whole thing has not only cost me my time, but money too, thankfully, not much. What I have lost is a one or two very good domain names that I found and caught using my own desktop application as supplied by TasteDrop.

There wouldn't be this problem, if the domains were in a Dynadot account over which I had full access to and control of, that is the point that I think these guys are missing.

The further point is, if this happened to me, with direct involvement in TasteDrop, who else could it happen to?

They can say that I don't know a huge amount about drop catching Dynadot API's but it doesn't take a genius to work out that the domains which were mine, did in fact end up in some other third parties account, to which I had no control over and that if I still wanted them, I could go to Sedo.com to buy them there.

I have just received another email 3 hours ago from DaviesBrands concerning this and backing this point up, here it is:

    Mark,

Since Dan has evidently cut you loose, if you wish to make an offer on any of the domains I would like to be fair and let you propose a bid for any of them before they go to Sedo.

    Regards,

    Jared Davis

    *****

That I believe says it all. They call that fair play and good business?

Well, that's news in my book.

My signature stands, I would advise people to steer well clear of TasteDrop.com - there are other companies out there that whilst not so cheap as TasteDrop will give you a much more professional service.

It's a case of, you get what you pay for and if something sounds too good to be true, then it's probably a scam of some sort.

Your order of 1,2 and 3 is a little mixed up, but that's ok.

    I weigh up my options.

Lawyers on the one hand? Or the fine art of writing and blogging?

Which one might be more cost effective and gets me the best outcome?

Lawyers, I can see in this, them rubbing their hands together, thinking, oh jolly good, another fine mess to sort out, lots of dough in our grubby little fingers, excellent. Or ...

A keyboard, several prominent blogs with high page rank and ten minutes a day could provide a much better outcome, where I hurt them where they'll feel the pain the most, in their wallets.

Last time I did this, I got a full ten out of ten on google on page one for the company website in question that tried to rip me off using their own keywords. ;)

Just as I was being asked to carry out the marketing and promotion for TasteDrop - I can do the exact opposite too and turn my skill on it's head to produce the opposite effect than that which would have occurred, had my position not been terminated, when I brought this matter to light.

If I can cost this new business thousands of dollars in lost revenues and potential new clients for diddling me out of my domain names caught, then up to the value of those domains at least, I will make them pay.

Contacting a lawyer would be just pouring money down the drain.

These guys have now seriously peeved me off.

You do realize that's incriminating yourself and they could use that against you right? If you purposely go on a PR rampage to ruin their reputation and thusly affect their revenue, they can sick a bloodthirsty lawyer on you and you'll be in an even bigger mess than you are now.
