Listed a used laptop on Ebay this morning. Ebay member with score of (-1) used the "buy it now" otion and bought it. Now an email comes through frm member asking me to send it to Nigerian friend.

Checked feedback comments for the (-1) and this is the comment "WARNING! This user is a Nigerian Scammer!" from anopther Ebay member TODAY!

I sent an email to and with all the details (set to Paypal because member said could pay via Paypal).

    Here's the email from Member:

Looks like I will be hit with selling fees and also relisting fees. But I want the member banned from buying from me.

Any ideas what else I can do?

tell the buyer that you don't accept Paypal payment from Overseas, send money through bankwire or western union instead if he's able to. If s/he rufuse then dump him. Keep on reporting to ebay so they will waive your seller fees.

Man, let me tell you something sure. There are kind of people that steal from ebay.
First are the romanians, that are selling unexisting products
The second are the nigerians, that buy products without paying.

How can i be so sure ? Easy, because in my neighborhood there are dozens/hudreds that do this and i know from them.

So take care who you trade with ;)

like WMBurg says - you can re-coup your listing fees and re-list it
theres lots of settings you can apply to cut out all these shabby bidders:
go into your account options, block out "bidders from countries i dont ship too"
set your "bidders under x feedback"
and consider "bidders must have a paypal account to bid"
plus you can block this donkey's ass from bidding on your junk again - here
    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/block_bidders.html

dosnt eliminate the problem - but cuts down all this crap, especially if you ever want to sell a mobile phone and dont want it going to nigeria for a £60,000 cheque instead of teh £15 you actually wanted for it

Make sure you don't accept any payment from such pay pal account. If they find that the account is fraudulent, They will freeze your a/c along with his! and all the money inside your pay pal a/c will be not accessible unless this issue is resolved.

    SO Be CAREFUL!

Thanks to all. The Ebay member is no longer registered. (Probably banned). I have put a unpaid item claim in. I should get my fees back and now another (legit) person is interested in the item.

Good luck, hopefully you won't have to pay the listing and final cost fee. I hate scammers and fake bidders, just a waste of time and money.

What you can do in the future is restrict users with a feeback of less than X to use the "Buy Now" feature.
