Google to Encrypt ALL Keyword Searches Full Article: http://blog.hubspot.com/google-encrypting-all-searches-nj What do you guys think? Do you agree with Google's move to do this? From a marketing stand point this can greatly affect how we can use our google statistics, but from a user stand point, having our searches encrypted by google is pretty great too, no?
I think it depends on what side you're on. As a user, it may mean greater privacy, but as a marketer, it means less info. I imagine they'll be some further debate on this.
There may be many reasons, both explicit and hidden, behind this sudden change from Google. But now, it has become very difficult for us to measure the performance of keywords. I have written an article on this. Have a look at http://news.submitinme.com/newsdetails-366.aspx. Hoping for more discussions on this topic.
I am not gonna lie though, as a regular user of Google (and most of the other apps including mobile) I am pretty relieved that they finally decided to encrypt search for signed in users. But I am also a webmaster, I operate several websites along with many others I am a part of, and this will unfortunately have a bit of a negative impact to say the least.
