Saving YouTube Videos

I was wondering if anyone knew how programs that download YouTube videos actually work. Is there a way to do this manually. Thanks!

 

I use tubehunter ultra but it will cost you.

 

Yea i know about a ton of them, but how do they work?

 

It's not a program, but I use VideoDL.org. It saves the video as a .flv.

 

I assume they just download the video stream that your browser picks up.

 

So can this be done manually? Just wondering...

 

Don't the videos get saved in your temp files? No idea to be honest. If it was that easy people would have been doing it manually rather than buying all the programs or using web based services.

 

For example we have link:

1) take code after 'v=' an do the next link: h t t p://www. youtube. com/v/0Ssdd50UfOc

2) enter h t t p://www. youtube. com/v/0Ssdd50UfOc to browser. Google will redirect you to

h t t p://www. youtube. com/jp.swf?video_id=0Ssdd50UfOc&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//img.youtube.com/vi/0Ssdd50UfOc/default.jpg&t=OEgsToPDskI9PQTN2dDIKRL4fwl6Z8UN

3) take ALL string after video_id= (i.e. 0Ssdd50UfOc&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//img.youtube.com/vi/0Ssdd50UfOc/default.jpg&t=OEgsToPDskI9PQTN2dDIKRL4fwl6Z8UN) and add item to

h t t p://www. youtube. com/get_video?video_id=


So you will get next link:

h t t p:// www. youtube. com/get_video?video_id=0Ssdd50UfOc&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//img.youtube.com/vi/0Ssdd50UfOc/default.jpg&t=OEgsToPDskI9PQTN2dDIKRL4fwl6Z8UN

Enter one to browser and save on the disk

 

U can also install Mozilla plugin to download videos.

 

Here are a few Firefox addons that can be used to download youtube/metacafe, etc videos in .flv format - google for them, I'm too lazy to link them up.

- video downloader
- unplug
- orbit

I'm still looking for something that works directly with stumble video though.

Wow I did not know that youtube videos could be saved. I will download those firefox extentions and try them out.

 

Is that all you can say? All your posts are like that

You will just end up getting done for spamming.

 

I have downloaded lots of them - all cartoon character stuff and popular ads for my dd to watch while I stuff her meals into her mouth.

I have never checked out all those. The only one I use is the Tech Crunch one and it works fine for me with the only exception that it creates FLV files for which I had to download an FLV player.

And then I found a software that converts them into FLV files to MPEGs so that I can create playlists in my WinAmp.

 

This worked right up until the save prompt came up. After showing the little paper flowing from earth to folder for a good minute, it could not connect to youtube.
