    Hi,

I'm new to GIMP and have been playing around with it. I've just made an image fade into transparent pixels (wahey!), however i can't seem to save it as a transparent image?

I select File > Save As and then choose GIF as the file exstension.

    I then get the Error
"Gif Plug-in Can't handle layer masks"
    and
"Gif-Plugin can only handle greyscale or indexed images"

Then i click the "Export" button and it just turns all the transparent pixels into white pixels!!

Same problem when saving it as a .png file!!

For More Information: The picture i orignially started with was an image with transparent pixels around it. I added a layer mask to this selecting white full opacity option for the mask. I then selected fade area via rectangle tool, filled it with black via fill tool, and applied the blur filter.

when you export, there should be an additional option appearing to preserve animation ! that's what you need.
