Hey All: The price of gas is just going crazy! I saw a study about what people are doing to save money on gas. What are you doing to save on gas?
About 7 years ago used to take $10 to fill the whole tank. Now! About $40. Its just matter of time finding an alternative solution that works. Hydrogen cars seem to be the most promising to me.
I'm driving less. But when I do drive, I drive my little Peugeot 306 as fast as I can. It works the same as having fast showers to save water right?
Really, I have no way to SAVE on gas. We all need it and have to get where we're going. About the only way to not buy as much is to carpool and for me, that isn't an option. The prediction is 7 dollars by the end of the year. I can't imagine that, but again, we know that Shell, Exxon and the like are making record profits. Bush is from Texas...where is a lot of our oil? CAN YOU SAY CASHING IN after a Presidential term? "I knew you could!"
It works great with the "BART" electrical train system here in California USA. I drive slower to conserve gas.
Mass transit doesn't help the MILLIONS of people in rural areas in the US. Mass transit doesn't help farmers or truckers. Mass transit doesn't help the cost of food. Going slower won't save you enough to see any difference.
Well, I guess this has been a worldwide problem. It has affected all countries. I have read some basic fuel saving tips for driving and have been applying them already. No sudden acceleration can help save fuel, as well as early shifting to higher gear. On the other hand, filling the tank early in the morning or later in the evening is also a good option since during they time, its hot and and warm. In most cases the fue expands thereby giving your lesser fill as compared to filling on mornings or late evening where the temperature is cold and the fuels are more compact thereby giving you more during refuel.
Actually BART doesn't work very well at all. As someone that spends half my time in San Fran, I can tell you that I never get on BART. It is never convenient to get to any meeting I have to go to.
Oh, so you're from the Bay Area too? I use BART on a daily basis to commute to/from work, and overall the system is reliable. The only things I can really complain about are the people who sometimes ride it, and the occassional delay/late trains.
Our west coast office is in the Bay Area, so I split my time there. I guess I should really look into the BART when I am there.
It definitely beats trying to drive around the Embarcadero/Montgomery area during rush hour...driving in SF sucks realllll bad. Maybe that's why I hold BART in higher esteem, lol
If you drive 5 miles a hour slower you get 3 miles a gallon more. If the USa return national speed limite back to 55 miles a hour it would save over 1 to 2 million barrels of oil a day
It's getting bad, however we can't gather up a big enough crowed to protest. No one seems to want to take action.
