Saudi women journalists battle to overcome hurdles

    ..........The kingdom is one of the most restrictive places in the world for women, where powerful clerics say a woman's place is in the home, raising a family.

    Women cannot drive cars, must be accompanied in public by male relatives, and must cover themselves up in anonymous black robes lest they incite men's sexual desire......


    Imagine somebody imposes the same rules on saudi men. Including the dress code head to toe covered. Now imagine you see them in public places where you go to do your shopping, walk your kids etc. Just a thought.

    When and why did this dress code come into place? At some point in history (where women ostensibly wore less clothes), were guys spankin' themselves in front of them or something? I doubt get how someone comes out one day and says - you know what? we live in a desert, lets make chicks where black clothes over 99% of their body. That makes sense!
