I don't think anyone should get married until at least 18 - and even then it isn't always a good idea.

While physically mature at 16 a girl isn't mentally/emotionally fully developed yet; males it can take even longer.

But yes, far better than 12.

 

It's pretty weird that you can legally get married many years before you can legally drink beer.

 

Depends on the nation , we can get legally drunk at 18 . But If you haven't been drunk by the time you reach 16 then there's something wrong whit you .

 

Here we can drink at 18 legally, but I had a "regular" pub when I was 15, lol. I was fairly responsible though.

What is odd to me is here you can legally have sex at 16 or 17 depending on the state, provided the other person isn't a lot older and someone in a position of trust (teacher, doctor, etc.) - but you can't buy a sex toy or view porn legally until 18. >.<'

 

I find it disturbing that Australia has implemented Internet censorship .

There are a couple of whack jobs who have been trying to convince people it is a good idea for ages, but it isn't something that is actually happening, has happened, or will happen.

 

I thought I remembered the Aussie's censoring the Internet when I did some work there in the 90's...

 

To the best of my knowledge, no. That said, it depends when in the 90s you're talking about - it could have been some very short term thing I have no idea about if it was before I got "into" the 'net - but no. We aren't censored and haven't been in at least 10 years and, as far as I know, not before that. (But again, I could be mistaken there.)

 

Hmm .. AFAIK they censored ED for making fun of aborigines . I'm glad to hear that wasn't really implemented .

 

I've never had an issue viewing ED ^-^; I'm glad it wasn't implemented either; it would have been horrific.

 

Isn't the legal marriage age with parental consent 16 in US and many other countries?

That's right. But it also matters highly that child marriage still is existent in hinter lands here. As long as it exists either legally or otherwise, we should take at least a part of the blame for having failed to see that off.

the man in question only following his prophet. its perfectly legal in islamic countries to marry a kid and hence such claim.

 

I am not aware which country lets you get drunk at 18 pr anytime later. You can have a drink or two but I don't think any country would let you get drunk legally
