IMO religious based sexual oppression of the kind faced by such societies where virtually every outlet of expression is outlawed by religious leaders can lead to compartmentalized individuals that can rationalize themselves to be religious individuals on one hand and still be associated with the very things about which they condemn others. [or in other words, sexually repressed nutjobs that believe their own lies.]
