Saturated Article Directories + Using Smaller Directories

Hey guys, how's it going? I was just wondering what you guys thought about limits on how much you should submit to a single directory. As part of my SEO campaign, I have about 14 really good directories I submit to, but I've submitted more than five articles to each of them. Is it worth continuing to submit to these directories, or is their value practically saturated, since I already have fair amounts of links from them?

In addition, is there value to using the smaller article directories, like the ones near the bottom of article directory lists? I feel like the directories here would be of value: Directory List. But, I just want to get your guys' opinion of this matter. Thanks!

I made a thread titled: Article marketing (my personal experience against the attrition rate) in which I explain that 80% of the article directories you sign up to today will be bugged/redirected/parked within one year. This means you will be fighting an uphill battle hoping the little guys hang around and keep your articles live. The alternative is do what you are doing; submitting to a handful of top sites knowing they are more likely to hang around. If you have the time to spare I suggest submitting to them all, as even that extra 20% can help make the difference between winning keywords and saturation about an article vs obscurity.

Continue submitting other articles and don't link only to your homepage but build some deep links. Article marketing is a great way how to build quality deep links and optimize your website for some long tail keywords.

after certain amount of links, google starts discounting the backlinks form same site. however, 5 articles on each directory is nowhere near enough. you can certainly submit lot more. especially if they are top article directories.

backlinks are not the only thing you get form article directory submission, an article on the right directory can give you decent amount of traffic as well so keep on submitting

Do deeplink building and remember that article marketing is not only about links. You´ll be attracting interested readers to your site. The quality of your articles is very important.

Well, if your article content is 100% unique then you can continue submitting and remember to change the anchor text links..

Article Directories are a complete waste of time. They dont send any traffic anymore.

I submited 10 articles all aproved and they were all 500+ words. Its been 6 months they have sent me about 15 visitors last time i checked. People are spaming Ezine like crazy with 250 word articles that are the very low in value.

Sell your article on associated content instead.

Having just 5 articles on a popular article directory is not enough. Some people submit 3,000 articles to Ezinearticles alone.

Good to hear about all of this. I do write all my articles to be 100% unique, do follow through with deep linking, do vary the anchor text, and only submit to directories that are relatively large and established. I'm glad the saturation rate is pretty large though, very good to know!

From my experience, the direct traffic depends on the niche you are writing about. E. g. articles about making money online with a link to related website in the resource box leads to higher click rate than articles about web hosting.
