hmansfield, exactly, everything gets investigated. But, when they are unsubstantiated........... And talking about sex and giving sex education are two totally different things. Sex education consists of the governments of different states either teaching abstinence or to use protection. You can easily talk about sex without going into the "education" part. It is not prudish, it is just because you are too used to how the overbearing government works. And you know as well as us that Obama has enjoyed a honeymoon from the media. Every other president before him has had their honeymoon end in about 90 days. His is still going, and was going during the election. The liberal media got him elected and will keep him there the way they report the news. They focus on MJ dieing but completely ignore all the legislation that is getting pushed through. Maybe if they would get off his payroll we could actually get some facts.
I'm not talking about teaching kids any moral values regarding sex, just the plain and simple biology of reproduction and how babies are made. I would never suppose that anyone other than parents or their church teach kids any moral values regarding sex. The "liberal" media is not on anyone's payroll. They work for ad money just like any other medium. The media didn't get Obama elected, John McCain and Sara Palin did as voted by the people and electoral votes. You know, MSNBC, and CNN are not the only news sources available to you, there are plenty of outlets that report the news "your way". Everyone has access to the House Of Representatives website, they even twitter and you can follow any legislation, voting records, and notes on proposals that you want, unbiased. You can also watch it on C-Span, and I believe you can even receive text alerts about what ever legislation you are interested in. The problem with people who use the term "Liberal Media" is they keep confusing TV news with the facts. Media outlets are run by people. Regular people. Stop looking at them as if they are some kind of Government organization..they aren't, and they are going to report the news and events that the most amount of people are interested in, and report it in a way that keeps and grows an audience, so they can sell more ads..and yes, since a real person used their money to start it and it's run by real people, they are going to do it their way. They have every right. The President doesn't dictate what a privately owned company broadcasts, surveys and ratings do. When people don't get their way, or are in a minority of opinion, they always blame some conspiracy theory or outside intervention of control by mysterious organizations. Plain and simple dude, it's about selling advertising. Just like your website. Narrow down a niche audience and market products to them. They have no obligation to you to report the news your way, they are trying to make money. It's a cross between actual news and entertainment. If you don't like the way they report the news, don't watch them. You only call them the "liberal Media" because they aren't doing what you want them to do. Well Fox News doesn't report the news the way I want them to , but I don't call them "the conservative media". Fox has a niche audience and they cater to. Just like you do online.
Thats right, not on the payroll? Because they are a private organization? Look at GM. Who's a majority shareholder now? I misunderstood what you were saying about the sex in school thing, I agree with you BUT, the fact remains, things like soldiers getting kidnapped, North Korea, and Iran all take second chair to things that are on Obama's agenda. He considers what is going on in the real world a distraction to his agenda. And the media helps him push focus to a different topic. You know that as well as I do. And please, don't try to say otherwise.
Obama is not an idiot when it comes to foreign policy or the security of the nation. What he is trying to do is keep focus on the economy so that the public, and lawmakers don't get distracted. From what I have seen, he hasn't changed much of what Bush already started, with the exception of closing Guantanamo , mainly because it was unconstitutional. We still have the same military leaders and they still have run of the show..he is not getting in anyone's way of completing their mission, and the military still comes first and they get what ever they need. He has always said that this is a long term military action, and he would like to focus directly on where Bin Laden and other high ranking officials are located and continue to cut the head off of the snake, instead of broad actions (like invading Iraq) that create heavy collateral damage compared to actual results. I saw him speak on the campaign trail and he said straight out "This battle will go on, and we will be successful, but we can't stop in our tracks and let the rest of the country fall apart There is still work to be done at home."
He is not an idiot, but he is an idealist with unrealistic goals for the country. He is dragging the American public into socialism whether we want it or not. He should actually try living under socialism and their high taxes and inefficient government control. You are incorrect about the media not being responsible for Obama's election. Their widespread refusal to investigate any of the legitimate claims about Obama and his associations was appalling. But they didn't look the other way when it came to Palin and they mimicked all of the fabricated stories being created by bloggers and the Hollywood leftists. They are still doing the same regarding the blogger-fabricated claim about Palin being under Federal investigation, even though there is no truth to it. Journalists are supposed to investigate claims and report the facts. They are doing neither when it comes to Obama. They showed a clear bias in favor of BO during the election and they still do. I think they are reveling in the fact that for the first time in recent history they played a major role in influencing the election. They did the same with Bill Clinton up until the word "sex" came into play, and then everything was fair game. It was worse for Clinton after he wagged his finger at the American people and lied about having sex with Lewinsky. Obama's honeymoon with the press may be coming to an end. This was obvious in last week's White House press conference where the press was very critical about all of the broken promises about transparency. It appears that transparency only exists if it hurts Bush, but not when it could damage Obama. But he will probably toss them a bone, and like good little lap dogs, they will go away and not bother him for a while. After all, they are very loyal little mutts.
Well, if you really feel that way....media outlets are owned by real people, and real people work for them. Apparently more media outlets and pundits saw more in Obama/Biden that they liked than they did McCain/Palin and the people echoed that sentiment with their vote. Media is going to cover what the studies, surveys, and ratings say the viewers want to hear more of. There was no lack of support for McCain/ Palin from Conservative PACs, and Fox News so I don't see where anyone in America was brain washed into voting for someone they didn't want to vote for. When I hear people continue to bitch about some "conspiracy by the liberal media" to get Obama elected, it insinuates that American voters are stupid, easily manipulated, and have no minds of their own just because the candidate that you preferred lost the election. Both sides made their case, had equal opportunity to present it and the people spoke. It happens like that every 4 years. Sometimes it just comes down to who people trust more. And yes Palin was a frequent target and still is, and as a blogger, I don't like her either and jump on her case anytime I can...why? Because she insulted the intelligence of the American people, was too new to play dirty politics without realizing the repressions, and she bitches and moans all the time about being "treated unfair by the liberal gotcha media...blah, blah, blah..." There are plenty of strong, smart, experienced women politicians that take their licks and come back with a vengeance and don't bitch about it all day...both Democrat and Republican...so she was not ready for prime time and in politics if you show weakness to the voter and the press...you can hang it up. It's a tough world and if you can't handle us, then you can't handle the office, and we don't need you on the world stage bitching about how the Italian media was unfair to you. Boo Fricken Hoo ! I like to see people do...not bitch about how someone else is holding them back or treating them unfair. The first time you play "but what about what they did ?" with me, it's over. The funny part about it is, she deserved it. She did interviews to prove her worthiness and experience and didn't even know the basics and it showed. Just as some people really can't stand Hillary Clinton because they say shes a cold, unfeeling person...I can't stand Palin because I feel she is a hypocrite, and is all big talk, but no real ideas or experience...just fluff and GOP cheer leading. ..I would totally respect, and maybe even like her, if she were a political pundit for Fox or CNN. But these are my opinions as a voter and a taxpayer. They don't have to be yours or anyone else's. Every election, you take a look, take a listen, and do a little investigation and cast a vote the way you feel. Win or lose, I don't start bitching that everyone is stupid just because my candidate lost. When I see voting machines shut down in predominate areas of the party I affiliate with, or Lawsuits to disqualify voters who lost their homes, because they have no address, or Bad lists of "supposed" felons that mysteriously show up on election day and stop qualified people from voting- Those are all conspiracies, and real ones, and they actually happened ! ...maybe it's tactics like those that lost your party's respect with the American voter...After you lose respect, everything else you say will fall on deaf ears. As far as Obama's "unrealistic goals" for the country, people said that about a lot of Presidents, Truman, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, and some of the programs and ideals that they brought to the office are now the cornerstone of our very existence. Medicaid being one of them....try telling millions of American senior citizens that that was a stupid idea and you want to pull the plug...well that's what they said when it was first proposed. i don't think anything is impossible in America, and I hate to hear people say that we can't do something, we do it every time, no matter how many people sit back in their chairs and bitch about it. He is not turning the country into socialist, he is trying to stop greed from destroying us, like it is doing to our economy now. We are in this position because of greed...nothing else. Greed makes people take short cuts. For all the critics out there that disagree with his ideals, all I hear in the media and on this forum is people bitching about it (I think mainly because they were going to disagree with him no matter what) , but I have yet to see anyone offer any concrete alternative solutions. Greed in this country is crushing the economy, and the poor and middle class. We have to stop going through these cycles where one government strips all regulations and a bunch of people make money, but they destabilize the economy and then it takes 8 years to get it back on the right track, and then we do it all over again...One of these times we aren't going to bounce back.
You bring up a great point with the word GREED. - It's been greed for votes that's caused lawmakers to push banks to give risky loans to people with bad credit. - It's been greed for payoffs that's caused banks to lend to people who can't pay back. - It's been greed to make sales by agents to push people into homes they couldn't afford to get their 3-6% - It's been greed to live in the most lavish home possible whether they could afford it or not by the common person getting a loan that simple math would tell them they would be living paycheck to paycheck. - It's been greed for money that has justified GM executives getting huge paychecks, bonuses, and benefits/writeoffs. - It's been greed in recent decades pushing GM workers and unions to milk their company for every possible cent they will agree to raising costs to the company per worker much higher than their foreign competition. - It's been greed from investors to get your money and promise you the world. They care much more about getting the money than providing returns. - It's been greed from those wanting something for nothing who give their life savings to these investors believing they're going to get rich. My point is, greed comes from every level of income and social status greatly impacting the economy and our current situation. It's human nature and only gets you in a hole deeper than you can get out of when too much stupidity is involved. To blame on party, president, group, or person is silly... to single out high income groups and hate them and make them pay for these problems will not fix things. The more the government is involved, the longer it will take for things to correct and the more tax payer money wasted.
